• Combining properties
  The aim is to combine several functionalities in one product using the different properties of the plastic components. For example, the hard component of a control panel provides mechanical stability, while the integrated soft-material button can be pressed to actuate an underlying circuit board.
• Sealing
  Soft components seal plastic components and protect them from external influences.
• Enhancements
  Coloured plastics can be used to indicate certain functionalities. In electric vehicles, for example, live components are orange. They are also used as design elements.
